When the Swiss Indoors Basel come to an end this year, our work really begins. In 2026, we are once again the recycling partner of the prestigious tournament and take all the balls played there into our recycling loop – following the motto: Reduce, Reuse, Replay.
For tennis fans, the Swiss Indoors Basel hardly need an introduction. The long-established event is one of the most important indoor tournaments in the world: from 24 October to 1 November, the international tennis elite will once again come together in Basel.
Why we recycle with the Swiss Indoors Basel
At professional level, tennis balls are often used for only a few sets before being replaced. Together with the Swiss Indoors Basel, we have therefore introduced a system to keep these balls in circulation for as long as possible before recycling them. It shows that professional sport and sustainability can make a strong team.
What happens to the balls
First, the Swiss Indoors balls continue to be used in youth training at the TIF Tennis Academy. Only when they can no longer win the battle against gravity does the next step begin. They are sorted by the BAND Foundation in Bern and then enter our recycling process.
That is exactly our goal: to keep the balls in play for as long as possible and then recycle them in a meaningful way. From professional tennis to youth training, into recycling and back onto the tennis court – together with the Swiss Indoors, we are closing the loop.
